Insects are the most diverse among all organisms on Earth. They can be found in virtually any terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and they are involved in most ecosystem functions. They can give us honey and crops through their pollination services or can clean up waste or carcasses efficiently recycling them into soil nutrients. Yet, they also can spread diseases and damage crops. Even pests though can be admired for their beauty, the intricacy of their miniature bodies, and the complexity of their lifestyles.
I choose here posts, sometimes merely collections of photos but also scientific studies, that show the intriguing beauty of the insect world, and highlight the importance of their conservation.
